Everyone experiences life's ups and downs in today's world, We can all agree that managing your finances while stressed is really difficult, and the problem with it is when you're experiencing financial stress, it makes you less able to effectively manage your money and earn more money, which than causes more stress. So if you are experiencing depression or anxiety, you can get trapped in a cycle that significantly hurts your finances and then compounds itself by causing you even more depression and anxiety.
Money plays an important role in each and everyone's life as Money brings comfort, money brings luxury, and money fulfills your basic needs but it's not necessary that money will bring complete satisfaction, firstly it is very important to prioritize our mental well-being and emotional well-being, In the midst of working for money, many of us forget to work on themselves. Suppose, my life ends tomorrow accidentally or due to other reasons, What is the point of me being stressed or worried today due to one small reason. So focusing on self and the present moment is important, saying good things to self is important, and even good affirmations will help maintain a positive impact on our mind.
Our finances are so connected with our stress levels and our emotions.
Now someone who suffers from any kind of mental illness or mood disorder or something that's debilitating and actually incapacitates them from earning income or managing their money effectively, this can be so debilitating. And this doesn't necessarily start with just managing your finances, I think that amount of stress that students or anyone under really lead to their increased debt burden because one of the problems that a lot of people experience is if they withdraw from classes or take a semester off or change majors because they found what they were studying was too stressful or they have a breakdown, which is not actually uncommon in universities at all, this really adds to their student loan debt burden. Some people have not been able to finish their degrees because their mental illness or mental health issues have been so debilitating, and yet they're still saddled with the debt that they accumulated.
Our finances are so connected with our stress levels and our emotions, that separating them is impossible maybe acknowledging times in your life, or that you're experiencing right now, that might be affecting your finances is a great way to practice self-care and forgiveness and help yourself get through them.
Even if you are not experiencing any mental illness or you haven't been diagnosed with depression, don't overlook the impact of stress or anxiety, or grief on your bank account. What I mean by this is, a lot of the personal challenges that you experience in your life will actually show up on your bank balance in some capacity or another. Most people in their 20s struggle financially, because of some personal emotional turmoil from whatever circumstances it might be, whether that was a bad breakup or changing majors in university, or even the stress of trying to find a job. And job hunting is one of the most demoralizing experiences that people have to go through, and the financial stress of being unemployed just makes it all that much worse.
One of the best ways that you can take care of your finances is to take care of your mental health.
There are a few different things you can do to achieve this. One of the simplest is just to reduce your stress and anxiety in everyday life. And these are simple approaches of just taking time for yourself, maybe trying something like meditating or yoga, and just giving yourself pause and time to reflect to lower your heart rate, lower your blood pressure, and relax, I really think relaxing is so important to get good mental health, I know we're in the age of the hustle and everyone's about being busy and rushing and doing as much as they can, and that's especially easy to do if you're working multiple jobs to pay off your debts or save for a goal. But everyone should remember to take time to relax and hang out with family or friends or even by themselves so they can recoup some energy and have it to tackle the next day next.
The other way to take care of your mental health and your finances is to try to reduce the impact of your finances on your mental health. Now this can seem impossible to do if you are dealing with something huge like unemployment, being laid out from your job, a huge debt load, or something like that, but you want to take care of the small things so that they don't cause you any additional stress. Keeping a positive mind will help reduce your stress level, There's a saying " What you think is what you become" and this is absolutely true. The more negative thoughts the more negative energy you will attract, and it will do nothing but will increase your anxiety level. So try to maintain positive thoughts as much as you can it will really attract positive energy and also will help you reduce your stress level.
